There are certain silhouettes that I gravitate towards, and the kimono style sleeve is one of them. It seems that no matter what is on trend at the time, just like midi length confections, I simply can’t get enough of this exaggerated silhouette.
Express Distressed Denim (DYI hem- similar options here and here) \ F21 Kimono Sweater (chic, yeat cheap find) \ BCBG Heels \ Classy Sheffield Watch (c/o Daniel Wellington) \ Stackable Rings \ Zara Men’s Button Down \ Filmore Mini Handbag c/o Kooba
However, the beauty of personal style is that one can still incorporate pieces into a look that would otherwise seem to be so last season. I decided to modernize this particular kimono sweater by layering it with a staple that has been seriously on trend for several seasons now: the white button-down.
Of course there are other small details that help elevate the look- an uneven, frayed hem that I strategically cut into place an hour before this shoot is one of them- but who knew something as simple as a white button down could completely change the way you view an outfit? Well, I guess I did, but that just goes to show that most of the time it is all about the details.
