My Style. Ringing In the Holiday with Bells

Sleeves seem to be a major topic of conversation amongst the fashion set lately. They have taken on exaggerated silhouettes, been chopped up, chopped off and sewn in ever way imaginable. They even had holes cut into them last season as a playful nod to a time when shoulders were a major player in the game of bringing subtle sex appeal back. However, regardless of how they are constructed, sleeves are the latest it fashion accessory. So, it’s not hard to believe that adding a touch of serious flare would be the next logical step in this quest to make sleeves truly chic again.

Insert the drama bell sleeve trend.

Not only have we seen the bell silhouette inhabit our trousers and hemlines, but now the shape is inhabiting the arms of blouses, knitwear, outerwear and even dresses. However, unlike the fashion of the 70s that this trend is paying homage to, each piece is impeccably tailored and well-structured. Rocksanda reimagined the trend by creating double-layered flare sleeves in one of their latest collections, and Proenza Schouler upped the ante on his evening wear by adding a trumpeted silhouette to his evening gowns.

Ahhh, with all this enthusiasm focused around our sleeves, hailing a cab, reaching for things on high shelves (hehe) and even waiving to friends has never looked so stylish.
