New In. My Kind of Daydreamer Denim

One lesson we have learned when it comes to fashion, is that satire truly goes a long way. Right now, designers are borrowing a bit of comic relief from the 70s, and bringing patched up denim back into the the fashion stratosphere with their modern take on the trend. From mis-matched patches of denim at Tom Ford to a pair of DKNY jeans that resemble a DIY project (in the best way possible), and even emoji patches that reference the era that we currently live in, denim is getting a complete makeover this spring.

Truffle Collection Molly Heel (The Chic, Yet Cheap Find)

From open back sneakers to lace-ups sandals, and sophisticated mules, there is something for every style maven to enjoy in the footwear department this spring season.

However, I happen to have my eye on the pointy-toe, kitten heels that dominated the collections of Proenza Schouler, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Céline. The kitten heel has been a go-to of mine for several seasons, because it is comfortable and oh so sophisticated at the same time, and that combo is exactly what I need when I am simply donning a white tee and some of my favorite denim.

When you are constantly swimming in a closet of all black, a reprieve from the color- however small that may be- can be much-welcomed. While perusing one of my favorite retailers for a new black bag, I stumbled across this little burgundy gem. The faux fur pom pom intrigued me, the clean lines excited me, and the thought of adding a little dose of color to my often all black winter ensembles completely inspired me.

Sure, it may just be a small step in the grand scheme of things, but one small step usually leads to another. Then, that step leads to a bigger step, and before you know it I may even be jumping on that color train this spring. (Or, at least taking a small ride- lol.)

Trend to Try. The Kitten Heel

Zara Kitten Heels (The Chic, Yet Cheap Find)

This season, I’m bringing my style back down to earth by embracing one of the latest footwear trends: the kitten heel.

It should come as no surprise that comfort is taking precedent in many of the footwear selections for designers and style mavens. Sneakers were all the rage for the fashion set last season, and heelless options such as brogues, loafers and slip-ons continue to be a go-to for fashion enthusiasts wanting to give their feet a bit of a reprieve as well. However, for those who want to add a little height to their look without loosing the comfort aspect, the kitten heel is the best thing to happen to effortless style since the invention of the blue jean.

Reading List. milk and honey

With her no-holds-barred approach to detailing some of the most excruciatingly painful and stunningly beautiful aspects of being a woman, Rupi Kaur has a voice that simply demands to be heard. In her first book, ‘milk and honey’, Kaur details her journey through hurt, love, breaking, and a final enlightening chapter on healing. However, her true talent lies in her ability to lace candor with a gentle approach that makes her words easy to digest, even when the subject matter could be considered borderline brash.

If you are looking for an easy read, then don’t turn to this compilation of poetry and prose, but if you are ready to take an in-depth look at relationships and the emotions that often come with them, then this should be on your reading list.

your art
is not about how many people
like your work
your art
is about
if your heart likes your work
if your soul likes your work
it’s about how honest
you are with yourself
and you
must never
trade honesty
for relatability
