If you read this post, you know that statement earnings are back, and in a big way.
That being said, tassel earrings such as these are an absolute must. They can take that t-shirt and denim combo to the next level, and even make a messy ponytail look uber chic.
What is not to love about that?
There are many ways to make a statement this spring, but oversized earrings seem to top the list after they were incorporated into the collections of fashion heavy hitters such as Rodarte, Proenza Schouler and J.W. Anderson (Anderson’s mis-matched take on the trend was my absolute favorite of the season).
Shoulder dusting earrings have slowly made their way back onto the fashion scene for several seasons. Raf Simmons lead the charge when he resurrected the idea of the one ear banger in his fall 2013 collection for Dior. Many designers duplicated the trend for several seasons after by incorporating the solo earcuff, single chandelier and mono hoop options into their own collections.
However, this season we are seeing the mate return to the other ear, and the idea of oversized earrings taking on a whole new meaning. Rodarte created connecting chains to adorn their model’s earlobes, and Proenza Schouler added three layers of dangling metal to some of his earring designs for spring.
I am making an effort to embrace the new more is more trend when it comes to adorning my own earlobes, but I still find myself gravitating towards minimal designs that are smaller in size, yet high in impact. The lucite and silver option I have photographed above is perfect for the minimalist who is gearing up to embrace the statement earrings trend this season, but needs a little warm up before they fully enter the game.
One could pair their statement earrings with a cocktail dress for a night out on the town. However, I am most excited about pairing my newly-adorned ears with a crisp button down and jeans for a fresh, yet understated look this spring.
How will you style yours?
